Kathy Griffin accuses Trump of targeting her with Secret Service probe

Comedian Kathy Griffin on Friday accused President Trump of personally ordering the Secret Service investigation into her, saying he has a “vendetta” against her.

Griffin was widely criticized last year after sharing a photo of herself holding a severed head that appeared to look like Trump. She was interviewed by the Secret Service, which is required to investigate all threats made against the president.

“You know he has a vendetta against certain people,” she said on an ABC News podcast Friday. “You know how he works.”

{mosads}She said that she believes the investigation was unnecessary and that Trump was personally responsible. She told ABC News that she believes much of the response to the photo was “organized” by Trump-friendly media outlets.

“What I didn’t realize is I was just being thrown into, like, the Trump wood chipper,” she said Friday. “I didn’t realize that day that they already had this apparatus in place. You know, how to coordinate with [Sean] Hannity and Fox News and how to coordinate with TMZ.”

The Secret Service reportedly interviewed Griffin for more than an hour last year.

The comedian has since maintained that she was forced out of touring in the U.S. after the backlash to the photo. She is looking to make a comeback later this year with a multi-city tour called “Laugh Your Head Off” and will attend the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner on Sunday.

Though Trump himself will not be at the dinner, Griffin said she wishes he was going because “he can’t take a joke.”
