Nicklaus, who supports Trump, said on the Golf Channel’s “Morning Drive” that he “couldn’t have agreed with Tiger more.”

"My political views might be different from somebody else’s political views, but it doesn’t make any difference. The office of the president is the head of the greatest country in the world.”

When asked Sunday by a reporter what he would say to those who question his relationship with Trump, Woods said, “We all must respect the office”.

“Well, he’s the president of the United States. You have to respect the office,” Woods said after the final round of the Northern Trust. “No matter who is in the office, you may like, dislike personality or the politics, but we all must respect the office.”

Woods and Trump were seen playing golf together last year.

Trump praised Woods for his recent comments, tweeting that the “Fake News Media worked hard to get Tiger Woods to say something that he didn’t want to say.”

“Tiger wouldn’t play the game — he is very smart. More importantly, he is playing great golf again!" Trump added.

Nicklaus was a vocal supporter of Trump during his 2016 campaign, saying that Trump was “awakening the country.”
