Murkowski celebrates birthday with electric scooter ride

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) celebrated her birthday this week with a video of herself riding an electric scooter on Capitol Hill.

"My birthday present to myself!" Murkowski tweeted on Wednesday, her 62nd birthday, along with the video clip.

Murkowski, who has served in the Senate since 2002, is up for reelection in 2022. She will likely be a top primary target from the right, as she was the sole Republican vote against confirming Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in 2018.

The Alaska Republican previously won as a write-in candidate after losing in her 2010 primary to Joe Miller.

She is not the only lawmaker to take a ride on the popular electric scooters, which have taken over Washington, D.C., and other cities in recent months. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) can be seen riding one in the Netflix documentary "Knock Down the House."
