Look out, Limbaugh — former Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) is reportedly taking his fiery personality to the radio airwaves.

The ex-congressman, who lost his reelection bid last year to Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), will soon occupy a weekday evening slot on Chicago’s conservative talk station WIND-AM.

Time Out Chicago reports the show, which could be syndicated nationally if it’s a hit, is poised to start March 18.

Walsh tells the magazine, “This is going to be ‘Joe Walsh Unplugged’ for two hours a day… People either love me or they hate me, and I suppose that will make good radio.”

The 51-year-old former House member counts Mark Levin and Rush Limbaugh among his radio role models, saying of Limbaugh, “I know it’s easy to rip Rush for political reasons, but he’s a master at what he does. Rush invented the form, and he’s still at the top of the charts.”

While WIND-AM owner Salem Communications would not confirm news of Walsh’s radio gig to Time Out, Walsh said of taking a crack behind the microphone, “I’ve been in the arena. And I’m going to do on the radio what I did when I was a congressman: Just shoot straight and not back down from any sort of debate or fight.”
