Colbert pedals through House office building
{mosads}Rep. Matt Cartwright (D-Pa.) was on hand Friday as “The Colbert Report” faux news host donned a helmet and hopped on a pink bicycle. The congressman’s office tells ITK that Cartwright was filming a “Better Know A District” segment for Colbert’s Comedy Central show.
A photo posted on Instagram shows the comedian appearing to face-plant into a trashcan next to his bike.

The nation’s capital will likely be seeing more of Colbert in the coming weeks. He’ll appear at a Washington fundraiser in mid-April for his sister, Democratic House candidate Elizabeth Colbert Busch. The entertainer’s sibling is facing former Gov. Mark Sanford (R) in the race for a South Carolina congressional seat.
Cartwright told us in an email, “I enjoyed spending time and having the opportunity to sit down with Stephen Colbert this afternoon and talk about Northeastern Pennsylvania and the 17th Congressional District.”
The House member praised Colbert’s recurring feature, saying, “The ‘Better Know a District’ segment reaches an audience that other shows and publications do not and any chance I have to highlight Northeastern Pennsylvania is a good thing.”
