Once again, Rep. Steve Cohen is engaged in a Twitter brouhaha — this time calling Cyndi Lauper “hot” in a deleted tweet.

{mosads}The Tennessee Democrat — who earlier this year tweeted, and subsequently deleted, Valentine’s Day messages to a college co-ed on Twitter before revealing the 24-year-old woman was actually his recently revealed secret daughter — wrote the eyebrow-raising post to Lauper in a Thursday tweet.

According to the Sunlight Foundation’s site Politiwoops, which captures deleted tweets from politicians, Cohen wrote to Lauper: “great night, couldn’t believe how hot u were. see you again next Tuesday. Try a little tenderness.”

Cohen’s message was deleted after 21 minutes.

The congressman planned a Friday news conference to address the Lauper tweet. 

An earlier post, in which Cohen wrote, “Cyndi,Wow what a night!See you next Tuesday and Try a little tenderness again!Wow!What a special night.Thanks Steve” was deleted after 34 seconds.

The 63-year-old congressman, a longtime bachelor, was reportedly in the audience Tuesday for a “Memphis Soul” concert at the White House featuring the entertainer.

Lauper, 59, performed Otis Redding’s classic, “Try a Little Tenderness” at the event.

Cohen took to the House floor on Thursday to praise the “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” hit maker. “While there were a lot of great performers there, I want to put a particular shout-out to Ms. Cyndi Lauper because she’s special,” he said of the White House concert.

Referencing her Redding cover, Cohen said, “I would suggest to some of my colleagues on other side of the aisle that they ought to try a little tenderness on occasion.”

In his remarks, Cohen also called Lauper “a phenomenal lady.” 

A spokesman for Cohen did not return ITK’s request for comment.
