Katy Perry tweets ObamaCare support
President Obama and Katy Perry — Twitter BFFs?
The pop starlet and commander-in-chief exchanged some Twitter shout-outs on Sunday, after the “Firework” singer retweeted a post from Obama promoting his healthcare coverage plan.
{mosads}The 28-year-old singer, a big Obama supporter who campaigned during the 2012 race for the president’s White House reelection bid, retweeted this message to her more than 41 million Twitter followers:
If you’re one of millions of young Americans w/out health insurance, you can get affordable coverage starting Oct. 1 http://t.co/1zEA5K9Ebl
— Barack Obama (@BarackObama) August 26, 2013
After the tweet from Perry — whose single “Roar” from her soon-to-be-released album is ruling the charts — Obama responded with his own message:
Thanks for spreading the word. #ROAR MT @katyperry: RT @BarackObama: Get affordable coverage starting Oct. 1 http://t.co/1zEA5K9Ebl
— Barack Obama (@BarackObama) August 26, 2013
The entertainer noted following Obama’s reply that tweeting with the president and delivering a knockout, boxing-inspired performance of “Roar” at the MTV Video Music Awards later that night was apparently all in a day’s work:
YO what a day! #ROAR-ing @ the #VMAs, Tweeting w/POTUS, & now happy to announce U chose #DARKHORSE FT @therealjuicyj to come out Sept 17th!
