Landrieu to attend oyster event in Washington, DC

Sen. Mary LandrieuMary Landrieu oil is changing the world and Washington Ex-Sen. Kay Hagan joins lobby firm Republican announces bid for Vitter’s seat MORE (D-La.) will show off her oyster-cooking skills at an event  Wednesday aimed at restoring the Gulf Coast.

The annual gathering of politicians and many others is hosted by the Gulf Coast Industry Council. The day will start off at Acadiana restaurant, where local Fox-5 TV will shoot a segment, starring Landrieu, on cooking oysters. Later that evening, the restaurant will host a “Let the World Be Your Oyster” event where there will be plenty of oysters to slurp down. 

The all-day celebration is aimed at educating the public on efforts to combat the continued effects of Hurricane Katrina and the BP oil spill, mitigating the impact of dredging and coastal restoration projects on estuaries and oyster habitats, highlighting fisheries disaster funding for the Gulf Coast and Apalachicola Bay, and touting the national shellfish initiative.
