Don’t expect to see White House press secretary Josh Earnest sporting any serious facial hair like his predecessor Jay Carney. He says he’ll “never” grow a beard.
In his first week behind the podium since Carney stepped down, Earnest took to Twitter Wednesday for an impromptu question-and-answer session.
Responding to a question about when to expect a “Carney-esque beard,” the 37-year-old Earnest replied:
.@AARNGLzR Never. My wife would never approve. #AskPressSec

.@ronaldo129 Several years ago, as I rushed around a corner in a random WH hallway, I literally bumped into @KingJames. #AskPressSec

Earnest was sure to get a little ribbing of two of his colleagues in as well during the Twitter Q&A. Referencing an intern who unexpectedly fainted during his second press briefing, Earnest said of White House Deputy Press Secretary Eric Schultz and Assistant Press Secretary Matt Lehrich:
.@Phil_Mattingly If interns faint when I am up there, imagine what would happen during an @Schultz44 or @Lehrich44 briefing! #AskPressSec

Earlier in the day during the White House press briefing, the Obama administration’s @PressSec account on the social networking site switched over from Carney’s name and image to that of Earnest.
The new White House spokesman also delved into a political-television war when asked to choose between "House of Cards" and "West Wing."
West Wing - bc I am an optimist. RT @Schnik: @PressSec The West Wing or House Of Cards? :) #askpresssec
