Singer-songwriter Jennifer Lopez posted a picture of herself with the first lady before the pair took the stage at the United Latin American Citizens' National Convention for the Empowerment of Latinos in New York City on Thursday.

In her remarks later in the afternoon, Obama hailed Lopez "for all of her amazing work to lift up our young people every single day."

"She is truly an amazing woman, and I am so very proud of all of her work," Obama added.

The "Maid in Manhattan" star memorably joined other prominent female celebrities, including Beyoncé, Eva Longoria and Julianne Moore, in a 2012 campaign ad urging women to support the president. She also attended a star-studded fundraiser for President Obama in Paris during his reelection campaign.

The first lady's appearance at the Latino convention followed a visit to a nonprofit educational organization in Manhattan Thursday morning. In the evening, Obama is slated to headline a fundraiser benefitting the Democratic National Committee.
