Cheryl Strayed, the author who penned a memoir that a new Reese Witherspoon movie is based on, will attend Tuesday night’s State of the Union address as a guest of Rep. “Wild,” Strayed’s 2012 book about her 1,100-mile hike along the Pacific Crest Trail, became a New York Times bestseller and was adapted into a film released last year starring Witherspoon. The actress snagged an Academy Award nomination this week for her role in the movie. 

Strayed is a constituent in Blumenauer’s district. The congressman is also co-chairman of the Congressional Trails Caucus.
