Mother’s Day is this weekend, and ITK has a last-minute gift idea for our dear readers (and their political junkie moms), courtesy of C-SPAN.
The public affairs network is out with its new book, First Ladies: Presidential Historians on the Lives of 45 Iconic Women. Edited by Susan Swain and the C-SPAN team, the book is a budding history buff’s dream (and will likely make its readers the star of good party conversation at Mother’s Day brunch.)
Some of the fun factoids to impress one’s friends, and moms, with:
- Move over “Kate Plus 8,” as the mom of 10 kids, Anna Harrison had the most children of any first lady.
- Laura Bush is the only first lady to be a mother of twins, 33-year-old sisters Barbara Bush and Jenna Bush Hager.
- Frances Cleveland was the youngest first lady, at age 21. And a sweet, added bonus: The Baby Ruth candy bar was named after her daughter.
For the ultimate Mother’s Day procrastinator who doesn’t have time to pick up the nearly 500-page $29 hardcover tome from the store, an e-book is also available.
