SPOTTED: Former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) wearing a fiery red suit jacket and smiling as she chatted at a table in the VIP section at the grand opening of Mastro’s Steakhouse in downtown Washington.


The ex-lawmaker — who said she was resigning from Congress in 2012 to focus on her recovery following a shooting a year earlier that left her critically injured — was accompanied at the glitzy, packed bash on Wednesday by her husband, retired astronaut Mark KellyMark KellyGabby Giffords congratulates Mark Kelly with throwback photo of her own swearing-in Mark Kelly sworn in to Senate seat Watch Live: Sen.-elect Mark Kelly sworn in MORE. Giffords and Kelly told CBS News in March that they are both open to running for office someday, with Kelly saying he “might consider it” given the “right circumstances.”

Former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour (R) and Washington Kastles owner Mark Ein were also eyed at the exclusive affair, where guests were eyed feasting on lobster sushi rolls, steak, oysters, crab legs, and shrimp cocktail, among other delicacies.
