But McCain's wasn't the only election that Perry discussed in the interview; asked whether he would ever consider running for office, the rock star paused before responding.

"Sure, if I ever find myself in that position, I could see changing things up a little. I've been playing rock and roll for a long time now, and if California can have actors for politicians, then maybe the rest of the country can have musicians."

His platform? "Taking on big business."

But while Perry steamed over the influence of corporate interest in politics, he acknowledged that the cost of campaigns made corporate fundraising an essential part of the process.

"[Accepting campaign donations from corporations] and [being a] politician are a little bit like doing steroids and being a pro-wrestler," he explained. "You've got to do it if you want to be competitive."
