A monument is being planned for the spot outside an Arizona grocery store where Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) was shot in January, according to TMZ.com

The owners of a Safeway supermarket intend to install three flagpoles, which will fly the U.S. flag, a flag with a congressional seal, and the Arizona state flag. A plaque honoring the injured congresswoman is also planned for outside of the store.

Giffords made a surprise visit to the Capitol last Monday, to vote in favor of raising the debt ceiling. The appearance came nearly seven months after the lawmaker was shot in the head. Six people were killed in the shooting. Suspected gunman Jared Lee Loughner has been held in a Missouri prison since May after a judge declared him mentally unfit to assist in his defense.

A Safeway spokesperson confirmed the plans for a Giffords tribute with TMZ, but told the website that nothing has been finalized.
