Speaking of the ranking member of the Committee on Foreign Relations’s affinity for graphs and other visual elements, Warner explained, “You know those big things that senators put up on the stand as they speak — Bob had a full supply.”

So Warner soon figured out a trick to keeping meetings short, sweet and a bit less chart-filled: “You soon learned to bring him to your office because he could only carry so many carts [piled with charts] up there. But if you went to his office, he had all the extra charts. So it tended to be a little longer.”
