Olbermann back in the spotlight with GQ web series
Keith Olbermann has a new program, but not on traditional TV.
{mosads}Olbermann, 57, will instead host “The Closer with Keith Olbermann,” a web series for GQ. The bi-weekly series will launch Tuesday at 8:00 am ET on GQ.com.
Olbermann’s show is expected to be of the political variety and will obviously therefore first focus on the upcoming presidential election, according to the magazine.
The former MSNBC host has not been seen publicly since leaving ESPN more than one year ago.
MSNBC and Olbermann “ended their contract” in 2011 shortly after the network learned the provocative progressive commentator had donated money to two Democrats running for Congress.
He hosted a show on the defunct Al Gore-owned network “Current” in 2012 before going back to ESPN, where he rose to prominence in the 1990s.
At the time, the former ESPN SportsCenter anchor was MSNBC’s highest-rated host who often sparked conversation and controversy via his nightly “Special Comment” commentaries.
