Stephen Colbert: ‘How could God let Trump win?’

During Wednesday night’s live episode of “The Late Show,” host Stephen Colbert paused to pose a question about Donald Trump’s election.

{mosads}”You know, I’m a man of some faith. But when bad things happen like this — and this does feel bad — I have to ask ‘How could God let this happen?'”

As Colbert pondered the question, a projection of “God” appeared on stage and expressed shock that Trump won the election, even Googling the results to see if Colbert was right. “God” then told Colbert he was “busy binge-watching ‘Narcos’ on Netflix” and missed the election. Colbert explains that while Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton won more votes, Trump won the Electoral College tally.

“Oh, that again? I’m omniscient and even I don’t know how the hell that works,” the deity replied. “I guess I shouldn’t be that surprised white men came out on top again, considering how everyone assumes I look.”

During the show, Colbert also discussed the anti-Trump protests that erupted in several cities Wednesday night and encouraged people not to move to Canada just yet, adding that it’s going to be “four very interesting years” under President Trump.
