Macklemore tells Dems ‘no more tears’ in new post-election song

Macklemore is telling Democrats to end their tears over President-elect Donald Trump’s victory, rapping that they “gotta fight harder for the next four.”
{mosads}The rapper, who had a verse on a song called “F–k Donald Trump,” performed his new track, “Wednesday Morning,” in a Friday appearance on “Ellen.”
In the song about waking up the morning after Election Day, the 33-year-old dad of one raps:
Mad world, mad world, that’s what the TV said.
Imagine trying to keep your head,
While your daughter sleeps in bed.
And when she wakes up, will the world be the same?
Will my girl be afraid in the home of the brave?
Without naming him, Macklemore rails against Trump, saying:
This is resistance, we’re resilient.
When they spread hate, we shine brilliant.
Macklemore, was born Ben Haggerty, performed at a fundraiser for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in October. In August, he was part of a trio of rappers to lend their voices to “FDT (F–k Donald Trump) Part 2.” Calling Trump a “punk,” the rapper chanted, “We ain’t gonna let you f— up four years.”
In “Wednesday Morning,” Macklemore says, “This isn’t the apocalypse. We can’t address hate until we acknowledge it.”
“When we oppress anyone, we oppress ourselves,” he says.
Macklemore notes he’s not one of the celebrities who vowed to head up north if Trump became president, saying:
I’m not moving to Canada, not fleeing the nation.
No time for apathy, no more tears and no complainin’.
Gotta fight harder for the next four and what we’re faced with.
Got my daughter in my arms and he is not gonna raise her.
The lyrics echo the sentiments Macklemore expressed in an Instagram post last month, when he wrote: “I don’t have control over Donald Trump becoming president. That has been decided. But what I do have control over is where I go from here. I will teach my daughter to love. All people, regardless of the color of their skin, gender, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or where their birth certificate says they’re from.”
