Trump made the joke at a candlelight dinner at Union Station with high-level donors, Cabinet nominees and members of Congress.

"It may rain, it may not rain. It doesn't matter. I don't care," Trump said. "If it really pours, that's OK because people will realize it's my real hair and that's OK. It might be a mess, but they're going to see that it's my real hair."

Trump has been frequently mocked online and for his iconic hairstyle, with many wondering if it's fake.

During the dinner, the president-elect also praised his incoming administration hours ahead of his inauguration, calling it a Cabinet “the likes of which has never been appointed,” adding that “the other side is going absolutely crazy” over his picks.
