"Hi everybody! Back to the original handle. Is this thing still on? Michelle and I are off on a quick vacation, then we’ll get back to work," Obama said in his tweet.

He later tweeted information about the Obama Foundation, which he plans to launch in Chicago and run during his post-presidential life.


Despite switching back to his personal twitter, Obama will still have a far reach online. His account boasts 80.9 million followers, four times President Trump's 20.8 million followers. 

Obama controlled the White House's @POTUS account until noon Friday, when Trump was sworn in as president.
