Actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus delivered an emotional speech condemning President Trump’s immigration ban while accepting a Screen Actors Guild award on Sunday evening.

Dreyfus, the star of HBO’s hit show “Veep,” described her experience as the daughter of an immigrant.

“My father fled religious persecution in Nazi-occupied France,” Dreyfus said. “I’m an American patriot, and I love this country. Because I love this country, I am horrified by its blemishes, and this immigrant ban is a blemish and it’s un-American.”

Dreyfus words were met with applause.

Dreyfus started her speech on a lighter tone, mocking Trump’s statements that he won the 2016 election in a landslide, despite not winning the popular vote.

{mosads}“Whether the Russians did or did not hack the voting of tonight’s SAG Awards, I look out on the million or probably even a million and a half people in this room and I say, this award is legitimate and I won,” she joked. “I am the winner. The winner is me. Landslide.”

Dreyfus also quoted a statement from the Writers Guild of America, which read: “Our guilds are unions of storytellers who have always welcomed those from other nations and of varying beliefs who wish to share their creativity with America. We are grateful for them. We stand with them. And we will fight for them.”

“Veep” is an award-winning, satirical comedy that mocks politics and those involved in them. Dreyfus compared her show to Trump’s performance in the 2016 election while accepting an Emmy for the award last year.

“I’d also like to take this opportunity to personally apologize for the current political climate,” she said last year. “I think that ‘Veep’ has torn down the wall between comedy and politics. Our show started out as a political satire, but it now feels more like a sobering documentary. So I certainly do promise to rebuild that wall ― and make Mexico pay for it.”
