“Saturday Night Live” mocked Sean Spicer’s “rocky start” with the White House press corps during its latest show, with Melissa McCarthy portraying President Trump’s press secretary.
“Settle down! Settle down!” the actress and comedian yells at reporters to open a news briefing.
“Before we begin, I know that myself and the press have gotten off to a rocky start,” she says. “In the sense when I say ‘rocky start,’ I mean it in the sense of ‘Rocky’ the movie, because I came out here to punch you in the face!”
“I’d like to begin today by apologizing on behalf of you, to me,” she continues to laughter, “for how you have treated me in the last two weeks.”
“And that apology is not accepted. Because I’m not here to be your buddy. I’m here to swallow gum and I’m here to take names,” she adds, downing a canister of chewing gum in a reference to Spicer’s reported habit.
McCarthy also rushes a reporter with her podium after a question.
"You cannot come at me like that! I will put you in the corner with CNN!" she yells over a shot of an imprisoned reporter who says, "We're not fake news!"
