"Saturday Night Live" cast member Leslie Jones auditioned to play President Trump during the latest episode, donning a red tie, black suit and the president’s signature hair.
In a behind-the-scenes skit, Jones asks when someone will have to replace Alec Baldwin as Trump on the show, sparking a desire to play the president herself. Jones says if actress Melissa McCarthy can portray White House press secretary Sean Spicer, she can play Trump.
“I never dreamed I could play the president,” Jones says. “But then Melissa played Spicer and I was like, ‘Yo, why can’t I play Trump?’”
Jones also says she auditioned for Trump to give “America what it wants.”
But her audition doesn’t go as well as she had hoped.
“Not going to happen,” SNL Executive Producer Lorne Michaels immediately tells her.
She then yells at him and smashes his Emmy.
“I’m trying to show you I got rage. I’m trying to show you something different!” she yells, only to have SNL’s Vanessa Bayer come in dressed as Trump for an audition right after her.
