Singer wears ‘Make America Great Again’ dress at Grammys

Singer and songwriter Joy Villa made a political statement on the red carpet at the Grammys Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday evening.

Villa wore a bright blue dress reading “Make America Great Again” across the front of her gown, with “Trump” across the back.

On the red carpet, Villa initially wore a white cover-up over the gown, removing it to reveal the dress with President Trump’s campaign slogan.

Villa, who has been known to grab attention with her gowns in the past, also held a red, heart-shaped clutch and a white flower in her hair.

{mosads}Villa’s outfit choice sets the tone for what is expected to be another politically focused awards show. Celebrities have used their platforms at these events this year to comment on Trump’s administration and policies.

Award season comments thus far — most notably from Meryl Streep, who spoke against Trump at the Golden Globes — have largely been critical. However, Villa’s outfit choice appears to send a more supportive message to the president.
