Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) and retired baseball star Derek Jeter are reportedly partnering on a bid to buy Major League Baseball's Miami Marlins.

The Miami Herald said Wednesday that Bush and Jeter, who have previously competed over purchasing the franchise, could face their stiffest competition from New York financier named Wayne Rothbaum, who is the manager of Quogue Capital.

Bush currently resides in Coral Gables, Fla., following his unsuccessful presidential campaign last year. Jeter owns a house in Tampa.

Reports emerged in February that Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria is a candidate to serve as President Trump’s ambassador to France.

White House chief of staff Reince Priebus purportedly suggested Loria for the role alongside several other candidates he pitched for diplomatic posts.
