Music reigned supreme Friday night at Mother Nature Network’s White House Correspondents’ Jam as musicians, celebs and the Washington elite gathered to kick off the weekend’s festivities.

The event at The Hamilton, held the night before the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, was hosted by CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin and featured top Washington journalists and their respective bands.

The night’s headlining band, The Boxmasters, included actor Billy Bob Thornton and Rolling Stones keyboardist Chuck Leavell.

The band at one point dedicated a song to Baldwin, who joined them onstage and danced alongside Thornton during the song, dressed in an orange silk jumpsuit.

Guests enjoyed handheld desserts and an open bar while listening to the upbeat rockabilly group.

Journalists also performed at the event in their respective bands, including the Wall Street Journal’s Michael Siconolfi in the Six Stars, The Washington Post’s Tom Toles with Suspicious Package, CNBC’s Steve Liesman and The Mooncussers, and The New York Times’ Carl Hulse and The Native Makers.

The weekend’s event schedule is noticeably slimmer than usual this year, with the New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Time Magazine and Bloomberg all canceling their annual parties.
