Oprah: ‘I will never run for public office’

Oprah Winfrey says she will “never run” for elected office.
In a podcast with The Hollywood Reporter, the famous talk show host and actress was asked if she would consider a bid for the White House against President Trump in 2020.
“I will never run for public office,” Winfrey responded.

The media mogul has been the subject of presidential speculation, including a rare tweet from Matt Drudge this March saying “Trump vs Oprah would be the most epic race in American history.”
But Winfrey has always seemed cool to the idea, telling Stephen Colbert “never … it’s not my thing” in January.
Trump had previously teased the prospect of running for president on Winfrey’s show in 1988, though he eventually said “I probably wouldn’t”
Trump also told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos in 2015 that Winfrey would be his ideal running mate.
“I think we’d win easily, actually,” Trump said. “I like Oprah, is that supposed to be a bad thing? I don’t think so.”
Winfrey said during the podcast that she isn’t sure if she could win against Trump, but added “I will never have to know the answer to that, because I will never run for public office.”
