Pop star Lady Gaga suggested Saturday that President Trump “isn’t helping” Puerto Rico because it lacks electoral votes.

“Oh I see @realDonaldTrump you're not helping [Puerto Rico] because of the electoral votes u need to be re-elected #Florida=29 #Texas=38 #PuertoRico=0,” Gaga tweeted.

While Puerto Rico does participate in the presidential primary process, the U.S. territory does not have a vote in the Electoral College.

The Trump administration has been widely criticized for its response to the crisis in Puerto Rico and has scrambled in recent days to respond.

The Trump administration placed Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Buchanan in charge of the military relief operations Thursday. Buchanan said Friday that the Defense Department has not sent enough troops and vehicles to the island but would send more.

Trump insisted Friday that his administration is doing an “incredible job” with relief efforts.

"We have done an incredible job, considering there's absolutely nothing to work with," Trump told reporters at the White House.
