Late-night host Stephen Colbert mocked President Trump in his Thanksgiving eve monologue Wednesday night, calling Trump an "overcooked turkey."

The "Late Show" host joked that White House kitchen staff were likely pleased to learn that Trump would be returning to his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida for the Thanksgiving holiday.

“President Trump has returned to Mar-a-Lago, so I know what the White House staff is thankful for this year,” Colbert joked. “Mar-a-Lago members are apparently looking forward to seeing the president at the Thanksgiving buffet line. Just imagine a plump, overcooked turkey ... waiting in line for Thanksgiving dinner,” he said, before doing his best turkey gobble.

Colbert added that political discussions at Thanksgiving tables this year were likely to be tense, so Americans should make wise choices when it comes to alcohol intake.

“But even in the best of years, political differences can make things tense, and this is not the best of years. So if you’re concerned about conflicts over the dinner table, watch how much you have to drink," he said.

"I recommend either no drinks - or all of the drinks," he added, to laughs.

He implored audience members to find a questionable "middle ground."

“It’s really that two and a half drink middle ground where Uncle Fred starts asking ‘Well, why don’t we have a white history month?’” he added.

Trump arrived at Mar-a-Lago Tuesday afternoon for Thanksgiving break, where he was greeted by supporters and protesters holding signs that read "Welcome home President Trump" and "Get off my lawn."

Trump and the first family are expected to return to Washington, D.C. on Sunday.
