‘SNL’ tackles Omarosa’s departure from White House

“Saturday Night Live” tackled Omarosa Manigault Newman’s departure from the White House in its latest “Weekend Update” segment.

“It was announced that Omarosa Manigault Newman was fired from her White House job, whatever the hell that was,” anchor Michael Che said. “My guess is secretary of the sunken place.”

“But, Omarosa’s firing did prompt this outcry of support from black women,” he added before showing a variety of clips, including laughter from interviewees and “Good Morning America’s” Robin Roberts saying “Bye, Felicia.”

{mosads}Cast member Leslie Jones then appeared as Manigault Newman to correct Che.

“I demand a retraction,” she said. “I left that job by choice.”

“I deactivated my ID card. I changed the locks on my own office. I escorted myself off the premises. And then I threw myself into the bushes,” she added.

Manigault Newman last week pushed back on a report that she had been fired and escorted off the White House grounds.

“I resigned and I didn’t do that in the residence, as is being reported,” she told “Good Morning America.”

The White House said that Manigault Newman, a former contestant on “The Apprentice,” which was hosted by President Trump, will remain in her job as the director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison until Jan. 20.
