Chelsea Handler to GOP after Florida shooting: ‘You all have blood on your hands’
Chelsea Handler says Republicans have blood on their hands following Wednesday’s shooting at a Florida high school.
Shortly after news broke that at least 17 were killed in a shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., the comedian and former talk show host tweeted to her more than 8 million followers:
We have to elect candidates that are not funded by the NRA in November. We have an opportunity to elect candidates who won’t allow kids to go to school and get shot. It is disgusting how many times this has happened and Republicans do nothing. You all have blood on your hands.

Last year, Handler, 42, announced she was leaving her eponymous Netflix talk show to devote more of her time to political organizing and activism. A fierce critic of President Trump, Handler said at the time she would work with Netflix on a documentary “where I’ll engage with people I don’t talk with enough — people of different ethnicities, religions and political philosophies.”
As details of the shooting emerged on Wednesday, a White House spokeswoman said Trump was “monitoring the situation” in southern Florida.
Trump offered “prayers and condolences” in a Twitter post, writing, “No child, teacher or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school.”
