In a tweet Friday afternoon, Rodman posted a photo depicting the North Korean leader wearing Trump's signature red hat made famous during his 2016 election campaign.

Rodman has famously visited North Korea and met with Kim on multiple occasions and earlier this month celebrated news that Trump had agreed to an unprecedented meeting with the North Korean leader.

The specifics of such a possible meeting remain unclear.

"Well done, President Trump. You're on the way to a historical meeting no U.S. president has ever done," Rodman told The Associated Press.

During one visit to the country, Rodman reportedly gifted Kim with a copy of Trump's signature book, "The Art of the Deal."

Trump announced earlier this month that he would be the first president to meet with a member of the Kim family, which has ruled North Korea for decades. The move came after months of escalating tensions between the two nations over North Korea's burgeoning nuclear weapons program.

The White House said on March 12 that it "fully expects" the meeting to happen, though no timetable has been set.
