Social media mocks Ted Cruz over flattering Time 100 piece on Trump

Social media mocked Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Thursday for writing a flattering piece about President Trump for Time’s list of the 100 most influential people, despite past battles between the two men.
Cruz called Trump a “flash bang grenade” in the essay, saying that the president had followed through on his promise to “disrupt the status quo.”
“The fact that his first year as Commander in Chief disoriented and distressed members of the media and political establishment is not a bug but a feature,” Cruz wrote.
Readers noted that the former presidential campaign rivals have been highly critical of each other in the past.

Trump suggested during the campaign that Cruz’s father was involved in the John F. Kennedy assassination and retweeted a tweet critical of Cruz’s wife’s appearance.
Cruz called Trump “utterly amoral” and a “pathological liar” in response.
Twitter users quickly noted Cruz and Trump’s past battles in light of the flattering profile.
If a man slandered your wife and father like Trump did Cruz’s….ah of course you wouldn’t ever forgive. Much less, actively promote. What an incredible lack of any character. https://t.co/nSmiezgrvb

tfw when another man insults your wife’s and links your father to the JFK assassination and then you write a gauzy essay about him for Time magazine pic.twitter.com/Y77ZgPnePX

Call me old fashioned, but if I were Ted Cruz and Donald Trump had personally branded me as a liar, suggested he had dirt on my wife, spread rumors that my father assasinated JFK, and was, you know, Donald Trump, I’d probably pass on writing his effusive TIME magazine blurb.

On May 3, 2016, Ted Cruz accused Trump during a news conference of being a “pathological liar,” “utterly amoral,” “a narcissist at a level I don’t think this country’s ever seen” and “a serial philanderer.” https://t.co/9ZkVW2s6NA

As you read Sen. Cruz’s heroic praise of POTUS for Time’s “100 Most Influential,” it’s worth remembering this tweet making fun of Cruz’s wife is still live. Trump has never apologized for this and similar attacks on Cruz’s family. pic.twitter.com/RaCqfXhWgB

Ted Cruz wrote a nauseating and sycophantic essay about Trump for the Time 100.
I wonder what Heidi Cruz thinks of it. https://t.co/InHlYqbrVH— Roland Scahill (@rolandscahill) April 19, 2018
Shorter @tedcruz: Mr. Trump looked very handsome when he attacked my wife and father. https://t.co/7Gq2paidgL

This is so humiliating for Ted Cruz. I can’t stop laughing. Is he auditioning to be Trump’s butler or something? https://t.co/NU431JseWX
