Late-night host Stephen Colbert on Wednesday mocked Kanye West for praising President Trump on Twitter.

“I think Kanye is lobbying for a job as Trump’s new communications director,” Colbert joked. “They could just change his name to Kellyanne Kanye.”

{mosads}Colbert referenced a particular tweet in which West wrote Trump “is my brother” even though he doesn’t agree with everything the president does.

“That’s what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought,” West tweeted.

“I independently think that Kanye has lost his mind,”  Colbert said.

“You know what, Donald Trump is your brother. It is true. I am your brother, too,” Colbert added. “And brother to brother, I just want to say, put the phone down.”

West caught Trump’s attention on Wednesday when he defended Trump and shared a photo of a “Make America Great Again” hat that the president had signed.

Trump thanked West in a tweet of his own.

Trump and West met during the Trump administration’s transition, but White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Wednesday the two had not spoken recently.

West’s wife, Kim Kardashian West, and others jumped to West’s defense after the rapper faced backlash for his praise of Trump.
