The cast of the musical “Hamilton” serenaded former President George H.W. Bush on Tuesday with a special performance at his Houston office.

Bush tweeted photos of his office staff with the cast, which is in Houston as part of its tour.

Jim McGrath, a spokesman for the former president, called the performance "absolutely amazing."

The performance came less than two weeks after the 41st president was released from the hospital.

Bush was hospitalized on April 22 for an infection that had spread to his blood. He was admitted the day after the funeral for his wife, former first lady Barbara Bush.

"Hamilton" cast members, including show creator Lin Manuel-Miranda, have been outspoken critics of the Trump administration.

Vice President Pence was jeered when he attended a show shortly after the 2016 election. The cast then addressed him directly, urging him to promote inclusive policies.
