“Bold and Brave: Ten Heroes Who Won Women the Right to Vote” will be published by Random House this fall.

Gillibrand, considered a possible contender in the 2020 presidential race, said in a statement that she hopes the book will “inspire young readers to be bold and brave in dreaming big and never giving up.”

"The lessons of these incredible women leaders are ones of perseverance and determination and a willingness to never give up, especially when it’s really hard," Gillibrand said, according to USA Today.

The book, written for ages 6-9, highlights 10 female leaders throughout history whose work helped advance women’s right to vote. Among the names included are Susan B. Anthony, Harriet Tubman, Alice Paul and Sojourner Truth.

Mary McCue, publicity director of Random House Children's Books, said that Gillibrand credits her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as the “long chain of women before them who spoke out for what’s right” for the book.

“Bold and Brave” is illustrated by New York-based artist Maira Kalman.
