CNN’s Acosta on Kim Kardashian visit to White House: ‘She shouldn’t be here’

CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta blasted Kim Kardashian’s visit to the White House on Wednesday, holding it up as a sign of what he called the Trump administration’s “lack of seriousness.”
“You’ll forget about the fact that Kim Kardashian is here at the White House today and what planet that is anything resembling normal, because it’s not,” Acosta said on-air.

“She shouldn’t be here talking about prison reform,” he added. “It’s very nice that she is here, but that’s not a serious thing to have happen here at the White House.”
Acosta has often been critical of Trump and his White House, and has occasionally voiced that criticism on-air.
Kardashian, a reality television star, visited the White House on Wednesday to discuss prison reform with President Trump and his son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner.
Vanity Fair reported earlier on Wednesday that Kardashian was expected to bring up the case of Alice Marie Johnson, a 62-year-old woman who is serving a life sentence for a nonviolent drug offense.
Johnson was passed over for clemency by former President Obama, and Kardashian was expected to push Trump on Wednesday to pardon the woman.
