Samantha Bee is apologizing to Ivanka TrumpIvanka TrumpGrisham: Time in Trump administration 'will follow me forever' Grisham: Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump saw themselves as 'shadow president and first lady' Grisham says her 'enabling' cost lives during pandemic MORE for a crude slur she made about the White House senior adviser on her TBS show.
“I would like to sincerely apologize to Ivanka Trump and to my viewers for using an expletive on my show to describe her last night," the "Full Frontal" host said in a statement provided to ITK. "It was inappropriate and inexcusable," Bee said.
"I crossed a line, and I deeply regret it.”
In the segment, focused on separating migrant children from their parents at the Mexico-United States border, Bee slammed Ivanka Trump for a recent tweet showing the president's daughter embracing her young son.
“You know, Ivanka, that’s a beautiful photo of you and your child, but let me just say, one mother to another: do something about your dad’s immigration practices, you feckless c---.”
TBS also issued its own statement on Thursday, expressing "regret" over the incident.
“Samantha Bee has taken the right action in apologizing for the vile and inappropriate language she used about Ivanka Trump last night. Those words should not have been aired. It was our mistake too, and we regret it," the TBS statement read.
The Trump administration called Bee's show "not fit for broadcast" following the derogatory remark during a Wednesday segment.
“The language used by Samantha Bee last night is vile and vicious,” White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement on Thursday.
“The collective silence by the left and its media allies is appalling,” Sanders said.
