Actor James Woods shared Thursday that his agent dropped him as a client because he was “feeling patriotic” on Independence Day.

Woods tweeted a message from his agent, Ken Kaplan, in which Kaplan said he no longer wanted to represent the actor. 

“It’s the 4th of July and I’m feeling patriotic. I don’t want to represent you anymore. I mean I could go on a rant but you know what I’d say,” Kaplan wrote. 

Woods said that Kaplan is a “political liberal,” though the agent’s message did not explicitly state the decision was based on politics.

In a separate tweet, Woods thanked his agent and expressed some surprise at the decision.

The actor has been an outspoken critic of Democrats and liberal policies. Following the 2016 election, Woods said he was quitting Twitter because of censorship. However, he later rejoined the platform and tweets regularly.
