James Woods: My ‘liberal’ agent dropped me because he was ‘feeling patriotic’

Actor James Woods shared Thursday that his agent dropped him as a client because he was “feeling patriotic” on Independence Day.
Woods tweeted a message from his agent, Ken Kaplan, in which Kaplan said he no longer wanted to represent the actor.
“It’s the 4th of July and I’m feeling patriotic. I don’t want to represent you anymore. I mean I could go on a rant but you know what I’d say,” Kaplan wrote.

Woods said that Kaplan is a “political liberal,” though the agent’s message did not explicitly state the decision was based on politics.
In a separate tweet, Woods thanked his agent and expressed some surprise at the decision.
My response: “Dear Ken, I don’t actually. I was thinking if you’re feeling patriotic, you would appreciate free speech and one’s right to think as an individual. Be that as it may, I want to thank you for all your hard work and devotion on my behalf. Be well.” https://t.co/nEe8OMaWb2

Following the 2016 election, Woods said he was quitting Twitter because of censorship. However, he later rejoined the platform and tweets regularly.
