"For those of you worried that SPACE FORCE is the leaked title of ... Relax!" Hamill tweeted. "Turns out it's just lie #3,253." ."

The tweet from Hamill, a frequent critic of Trump and the GOP, came just a day after the Defense Department released a report detailing how it will carry out Trump's request to establish a Space Force by 2020.

Trump, who has long sought to create a space force, celebrated the news by tweeting "Space Force all the way!"

Vice President Pence on Thursday also lauded the potential new military branch, saying at the Pentagon, "our adversaries have transformed space into a war-fighting domain already, and the United States will not shrink from this challenge."

"History proves that peace only comes through strength, and in the realm of outer space, the United States Space Force will be that strength in the years ahead," Pence said.

Hamill has repeatedly criticized Trump throughout his presidency.

In mid-January, Hamill jabbed the president after he canceled a planned trip to the United Kingdom to mark the opening of the new U.S. Embassy in London.

"Very clever sir!" the actor tweeted. "Cancelling the trip, rather than admitting you're scared-silly at the prospect of facing massive protests you'd inevitably encounter upon your arrival, was a masterstroke! UK is just another shit-hole country, right?"
