The rapper was joined by OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder and performed a politically charged rendition of the two’s collaborative song “One Day."

During the performance, a group of families took the stage wearing T-shirts that read: “We are all human beings.” The families were reportedly from the activist groups United We Dream, Make The Road NY, and the National Domestic Workers Alliance.

While onstage, the rapper also vocalized his support for migrants, saying: “Bring us your tired, your poor, and any immigrant who seeks refuge. Together, we can build not just a better country, but a world that is destined to be united.”

The performance arrives as the Trump administration continues to face opposition over its controversial “zero-tolerance” immigration policy, which led to the separations of hundreds of migrant families at the border. The separations were ended after a storm of criticism from both sides of the aisle.

So far, a status update from the Trump administration and the American Civil Liberties Union filed last week states that 565 migrant children detained at the border remain in U.S. custody.
