Hugh Jackman fans are getting their first look at the actor as former Sen. Gary Hart with the release of a trailer for an upcoming movie about the 1988 White House hopeful.

A trailer for “The Front Runner” was released on Thursday. In the film, hitting theaters just a day after the Nov. 6 midterm elections, Jackman — who was born in Australia — portrays the Colorado Democrat during his failed presidential bid.

After being considered the front-runner for the 1988 Democratic nomination, Hart dropped his Oval Office bid amid revelations of an extramarital affair with Donna Rice.

“This campaign is about the future — not rumors, not sleaze. And I care about the sanctity of this process, whether you do or do not!” Jackman shouts in one scene in the trailer.

Eventual Democratic nominee Michael Dukakis went on to lose to then-Vice President George H.W. Bush.

“When I heard the Gary Hart story for the first time, I couldn’t believe it had happened. And I couldn’t believe no one had made a movie about it yet,” director Jason Reitman told Entertainment Weekly about the political drama.

The movie — which also tackles the blending of tabloid and political journalism during coverage of the White House race — is based on the 2015 book “All the Truth is Out,” by columnist Matt Bai.
