Actor Christian Bale is virtually unrecognizable as Dick Cheney in a trailer released Wednesday for an upcoming movie about the former vice president.

"Vice" tells the "untold true story that changed the course of history forever," according to the teaser.

Bale is seen sporting glasses, white hair and a fuller frame to play now-77-year-old Cheney.

Starring alongside Bale, Academy Award winner Sam Rockwell takes on the role of former President George W. Bush, Amy Adams plays the VP's wife Lynne Cheney and Steve Carrell appears as former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.

It's not the first time 44-year-old Bale has undergone a major transformation for a film role. In 2004, he reportedly lost more than 60 pounds to star in "The Machinist."

"Vice," from "The Big Short" director Adam McKay, is poised to hit theaters on Christmas Day.
