“This Beto O’Rourke seems interesting,” De Niro told Bloomberg News on Thursday, when asked who would be the best replacement for Trump.

De Niro has been one of Hollywood’s most outspoken anti-Trump critics. At the Tony Awards in June, the “Godfather Part II” actor delivered an acceptance speech onstage slamming the commander in chief, declaring, “F--- Trump” to a standing ovation.

Ahead of the 2016 presidential election, the 75-year-old performer also said he wanted to “punch” Trump in the face.

Trump has returned fire on social media, tweeting earlier this year that De Niro is “a very low IQ individual” and writing, “Wake up Punchy!”

“We all know my thought about the president and we have a more important thing now and that’s working to get rid of him,” De Niro told Bloomberg at a book party in Washington.

“But you need somebody strong that can beat him at his own game,” the Academy Award winner told the publication.

“You have to offer things that are as real as they can possibly be,” De Niro said. “You can’t promise anything — I mean, when you’re a politician you say, ‘I want to do this, I want to do that.’ And you have to have things that are going to inspire people to want to believe in you, as opposed to the nonsense that’s being put out by this guy.”
