In a series of tweets Monday night that did not use Trump's name but referred to the current government "leadership," the pop star said the Trump administration is “living in an alternate universe” and “being driven by ignorance.”

The New York Times reported Sunday that Trump’s administration is considering a proposal that would narrowly define a person’s gender by the sex listed on their birth certificate.

The report resulted in widespread critique from advocacy groups and celebrities alike.

Protests took place outside the White House Monday in response to the administration's reported plans. 

Gaga has been a vocal supporter of LGBTQ rights throughout her career, using her performances and music to raise awareness on the topic.
