Travis Scott endorses, campaigns for O'Rourke in Texas

Rapper and Houston native Travis Scott is throwing his support behind Democratic Rep. Beto O’Rourke in his challenge to Texas Sen. The rapper endorsed the Texas Democrat over the weekend and campaigned for O’Rourke in West Houston between shooting music videos in the city, according to The Houston Chronicle.

"All the kids, we just need to go out, hit these polls, attack these polls," Scott reportedly said while speaking to a crowd of supporters alongside the lawmaker. "... We need to just tell our peers, man, to step out and vote."


"Only us from 18 and up, we can change the world," Scott continued.

"On Nov. 6, man, we just trying to take Texas all the way up," the rapper added. "So Beto, we gonna take it all the way up. Texas make some noise and get out their and vote!"

O’Rourke also took to Instagram shortly after the event with a photo thanking Scott for joining him “to spread the word about voting.” 

Scott’s support for O'Rourke comes after other well-known musical acts Los Tigres del Norte and Willie Nelson also came out in support for the Texas Democrat.

Texas hasn’t elected a Democrat to the Senate in decades and Cruz leads O'Rourke by 6.5 percentage points in an average of recent polling, according to RealClearPolitics
