The actor was taken into custody after allegedly punching a man following a dispute in the West Village, the New York Police Department said.

"Is anyone shocked at this piece of garbage anymore?" Trump Jr. tweeted, sharing a link to a news report on Baldwin's arrest. "He’s a lib so he gets chance after chance to be decent but always fails!"

The tweet from Trump also referenced when Baldwin made headlines in 2007 after a voicemail in which he called his then-11-year-old daughter “a rude, thoughtless little pig” was made public. Baldwin apologized at the time, and has said he’s since mended his relationship with his daughter.

Baldwin, who won an Emmy Award for playing the commander in chief on “SNL,” is one of the president’s most vocal Hollywood critics. Trump has blasted Baldwin’s impression of him, calling it “terrible” and “agony for those who were forced to watch.”

The president remarked about the actor's arrest while speaking to reporters on the South Lawn of the White House on Friday afternoon, saying, “I wish him luck.”
