Rapper Kanye West is donating $500,000 to families affected by the massive wildfires in California, TMZ reported Wednesday.
West reportedly turned to Adidas and his Yeezy clothing brand to raise $500,000 after thousands of residents evacuated and lost their homes due to the blaze.
The fast-spreading flames reached the mansion of West and his wife, Kim Kardashian West, earlier this month, but did not damage their home.
Kardashian West appeared on Wednesday’s episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and reportedly presented a $200,000 check to the California Community Foundation's Wildfire Relief Fund and a $200,000 check to the California Fire Foundation.
The remaining $100,000 was donated to a California firefighter named Michael Williams who lost his own home but continued to work to save other homes on his street.
Williams and his wife, Lisa, appeared in a clip with the reality star and talk-show host.
The money would help the couple “pick up the pieces,” Kardashian West said as she presented them with a check.
President Trump visited California on Saturday as the deadly wildfires continue to ravage the state.
California officials said over the weekend that an estimated 71 people have died in the Camp Fire that started earlier this month in Northern California.
Three additional deaths were reported in the Woolsey Fire in Southern California, making the statewide death toll 74, CNN reported.
As many as 1,011 people are missing or unaccounted for.
